Verdict
The Rockford Fosgate T2S1-13 suits builders who want one high-excursion 13-inch driver on a 1-ohm mono amplifier. Its main strength is a 34 mm one-way Xmax with full published box data. The main compromise is weight, a dealer-only one-year warranty and no independent measurements. At $1,099.99 it sits between the Sundown X-15 v.3 and JL 13W7AE.
This Rockford Fosgate T2S1-13 review covers a big, heavy, single 1-ohm 13-inch subwoofer with an unusually long published excursion figure (34 mm one way). On paper it is competitive for a driver priced at $1,099.99. It is a current Rockford Fosgate product, and the manufacturer page names no successor. It is worth considering if you want one high-power woofer, own or plan a 1-ohm-stable mono amplifier, and can buy from an authorized Rockford dealer so the warranty applies. It is a poor fit for small boxes, light cars or buyers who need independent output measurements, because none are available for this model.
Rockford Fosgate T2S1-13 design and build
Rockford calls the 13 inches the total effective radiating area, which includes the surround. The cone's piston area is 707 cm², equivalent to a disc about 30 cm (11.8 in) across, so the driver is physically closer to a 12-inch than a 13-inch in the usual sense. The mounting cutout is 12.28 in (312 mm), the overall diameter is 14.73 in (374 mm) and the mounting depth is 9.70 in (246 mm).
The cone is a three-layer glass fiber, aramid honeycomb and glass fiber sandwich with an aluminum dustcap. Rockford lists an injection-molded foam surround attached with its VAST technique, a mechanical clamping ring on the surround, dual Nomex progressive spiders with stitched tinsel leads, a die-cast aluminum frame with heat-sink fins, a vented pole piece and a triple-stack segmented ferrite motor with a 528 oz (14.97 kg) magnet. The voice coil is a single-layer edge-wound aluminum coil of about 4 inches (3.96 in or 100 mm on the product page) on an anodized aluminum former, with an inductive damping heat sink above the motor. Rockford says the power ratings follow CEA-2031 and that the design is verified with Klippel. Both are manufacturer statements.
Weight matters here. Rockford gives a shipping weight of 93.7 lb (42.5 kg), and the manual says the driver ships bolted to a wood baffle for support; you remove the trim ring to reach the screws. Rockford's page jokes that it is heavier than Atlas, which is marketing, but plan a two-person lift.
T2S1-13 features, wiring and usability
The T2S1-13 is a single-voice-coil design with a nominal 1-ohm impedance and a DC resistance of 0.9 ohm. That keeps wiring simple, but it ties you to an amplifier that is stable at 1 ohm or lower. The terminals are push-spring, accept 8 AWG wire and are insulated. The FlexFit basket has slotted mounting holes, so you can shift the driver's position slightly in the baffle. The box holds 12 mounting screws, four trim-ring screws, a socket-head driver bit and the manual.
Rockford publishes wiring diagrams for up to four of these drivers. The loads below are series and parallel arithmetic for 1-ohm coils (calculated), and they match the diagram titles on Rockford's page.
| Number of subs | Wiring | Load seen by the amplifier |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Single | 1 ohm |
| 2 | Parallel | 0.5 ohm |
| 2 | Series | 2 ohms |
| 3 | Parallel | 0.33 ohm |
| 4 | Parallel | 0.25 ohm |
| 4 | Series-parallel | 1 ohm |
Check your amplifier's minimum stable impedance before choosing any of these. The warranty is one year. It covers only the original purchaser of a product sold by an authorized Rockford dealer in the United States, and the claim needs a receipt showing the dealer name and purchase date.
T2S1-13 sound and performance from the rated figures
Our research found no independent lab measurements for this model. Everything below comes from Rockford's published numbers and from arithmetic on them, so read it as a guide to what the specifications imply, not a verdict on sound.
Fs is 25 Hz and Qts is 0.34. Dividing Fs by Qes (0.39) gives an efficiency bandwidth product of about 64, a range where either a sealed or a vented box can work, and Rockford recommends both. The published excursion is large: Xmax of 34 mm over a 707 cm² piston gives a one-way displaced volume of about 2.4 L (calculated). The manual lists a 19 to 250 Hz frequency response without stating the conditions.
Sensitivity is modest. Rockford lists 87 dB at 1 W and 1 m. Our calculation from the rated figures shows an efficiency of about 86.5 dB using Fs, Vas and Qes, which supports that number. Rockford also lists 90 dB at 2.8 V, but 2.8 V across the 0.9-ohm DC resistance is about 8.7 W, so the two figures use different references and do not reconcile. The 87 dB figure is the one used here. If the amplifier delivered its full headline rating, the rated figures work out to roughly 117 dB at 1 m from 1,000 W, 118.8 dB from 1,500 W and 120 dB from 2,000 W in an idealized free-field case. Real cars add cabin gain, and real drivers lose output to heat, so treat these as ceilings.

Rockford's own enclosure recommendations show the trade-off. The sealed box has 1.85 cu ft of total internal volume, which is about 45.3 L net after subtracting the 7.08 L driver displacement. With those figures the rated figures work out to a Qtc of 0.54, the same value the manual lists, and a -3 dB point near 55 Hz. The manual gives 55.5 Hz. The vented box is 4.0 cu ft total, about 2.2 times the sealed volume, tuned to 38 Hz with a -3 dB point of 32 Hz in the manual. Deeper extension therefore costs a much bigger enclosure. For vented use, the manual calls for a subsonic filter, and it recommends an active 80 to 100 Hz low-pass at 12 dB per octave.
T2S1-13 installation checklist and enclosure sizes
Rockford recommends installation by an authorized dealer. If you do it yourself, treat this as a summary and read the manual.
- Disconnect the battery negative before any wiring.
- At 2000 W RMS into 1 ohm, the driver sees about 44.7 V and 44.7 A (calculated). The amplifier asks far more of the car: at an assumed 75 percent efficiency, roughly 185 A from a 14.4 V system at full continuous power. Music rarely holds that level, but size the power wire, main fuse and charging system for the amplifier, and fuse the positive cable close to the battery.
- Build the box from 1-inch MDF with bracing and airtight seams. The manual's sealed design is 16 x 20 x 14.5 in external; the vented design is 16 x 38 x 16 in with a 14 x 3 x 20.5 in slot port, both using 1-inch material. Rockford gives a workable sealed range of 1.00 to 2.00 cu ft. Subtract the driver displacement of 0.25 cu ft, and the port displacement of 0.65 cu ft for the vented design, when sizing.
- Use all 12 mounting screws on a rigid baffle. The driver is heavy and can stress thin panels.
- Subwoofers this powerful can produce harmful sound levels. The manual warns that high-powered systems can pass 130 dB, and that continuous exposure above 100 dB can cause permanent hearing loss.

Use this fitment checklist before ordering.
| Check | Rockford figure | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Mounting depth | 9.70 in (246 mm) | Baffle thickness plus driver depth fits behind the seat or in the trunk |
| Cutout diameter | 12.28 in (312 mm) | Cutout sized to the manufacturer figure, not the nominal 13 in |
| Magnet diameter | 10.47 in (266 mm) | Clearance inside the box and around braces |
| Weight | 93.7 lb shipping | Floor and mounting points can carry the finished box |
| Impedance | 1 ohm single coil | Amplifier is stable at the load you plan to wire |
Rockford's page pairs the sub with its T1000-1bdCP and T1500-1bdCP mono amplifiers. Both are rated below the sub's 2000 W RMS figure, which is workable if you accept not using the driver's full capability. The sub's rating is a ceiling, not a target, and the amplifier's rated output at your chosen impedance is worth checking in its own manual.
T2S1-13 vs Rockford Fosgate T2S1-16 vs JL Audio 13W7AE-D1.5 vs Sundown Audio X-15 v.3 D1
Three alternatives frame the comparison: the Rockford Fosgate T2S1-16, the JL Audio 13W7AE-D1.5 and the Sundown Audio X-15 v.3 D1. All figures are manufacturer or retailer specifications. The JL Audio and Sundown Audio drivers use dual voice coils and rate power differently, so watts are not directly comparable.

| Price per rated RMS watt (calculated) | $0.55 | $0.52 | $1.27 | $0.30 |

The T2S1-13 sits between the budget and premium options. The Sundown Audio X-15 v.3 D1 is cheaper per rated watt, but it is a larger 15-inch dual-voice-coil design aimed at small ported boxes, its page says sealed use is not recommended, and Sundown Audio states that it has updated its subwoofer power ratings. The JL Audio 13W7AE-D1.5 costs noticeably more and rates lower in power, but its dual 1.5-ohm coils give more wiring options. The Rockford Fosgate T2S1-16 brings more rated power and a larger cone for about $200 more, with the same 34 mm Xmax and a larger box.
Who should buy the T2S1-13 and who should skip it
It suits builders who want one high-excursion 13-inch driver, plan a 1-ohm mono amplifier, have a rigid enclosure and can buy from an authorized dealer. Skip it if you need a light, shallow driver, a small sealed box with deep extension, dual voice coils for flexible wiring, or measured output data before buying. Skip it also if your amplifier is not stable at 1 ohm, or if you cannot confirm that the seller is authorized, since warranty coverage depends on that.
T2S1-13 price and where to buy
On 14 October 2026, Rockford's product page listed the T2S1-13 at $1,099.99. The same page showed a notify-me form and a "currently unavailable" status next to a buy button, so stock at the manufacturer is unclear. A retailer listing seen the same day also showed $1,099.99 and an in-stock label. Prices change often, so check the current listing.
Before paying, run through these checks:
- Model: confirm T2S1-13 (1 ohm), not the 2-ohm T2S2-13, which is a separate listing at a similar price.
- Seller: Rockford's warranty covers only products bought from authorized Rockford dealers in the United States, so confirm the seller's status first.
- Condition: some retailers also list used units, which the original-purchaser warranty does not cover.
- Paperwork: keep the receipt and serial number, since both are needed for a warranty claim.
- Shipping: Rockford lists the sub as an oversized freight item with signature required, so check delivery terms.
Budget for the rest of the system: a 1-ohm-stable mono amplifier, heavy-gauge power and ground cable, a main fuse, a rigid MDF enclosure, a subsonic filter if vented, and professional installation if you are not confident with high-current wiring.

Rockford Fosgate T2S1-13 FAQ
What amplifier does the T2S1-13 need?
It needs a mono amplifier that is stable at 1 ohm or at whatever load your wiring creates. The sub is rated for 2000 W RMS, though Rockford's page pairs it with its 1,000 W and 1,500 W mono amplifiers. Check the amplifier's rated power at your final impedance.
Should I use a sealed or vented enclosure?
Rockford's manual gives both. The sealed design is 1.85 cu ft total with a listed -3 dB point of 55.5 Hz, and the vented design is 4.0 cu ft tuned to 38 Hz with a -3 dB point of 32 Hz. Use a subsonic filter with the vented box.
What is the difference between the T2S1-13 and T2S2-13?
Both are single-coil 13-inch drivers with 2000 W RMS ratings. The T2S1-13 is 1 ohm with a 0.9 ohm Re, while the T2S2-13 is 2 ohm with a 1.6 ohm Re. Choose by the load your amplifier can handle.
How many T2S1-13 subs can I run on one amplifier?
Rockford shows wiring for up to four. Two in parallel make 0.5 ohm and two in series make 2 ohms, while four in series-parallel make 1 ohm. Confirm that your amplifier is stable at that load before wiring.
How big is the T2S1-13 and will it fit?
The cutout is 12.28 in (312 mm) and the mounting depth is 9.70 in (246 mm). Rockford lists a shipping weight of 93.7 lb. Measure the baffle area and the space behind it before buying.
What warranty does the T2S1-13 have?
Rockford's manual lists a one-year warranty for most products. It covers only the original purchaser of products bought from authorized Rockford dealers in the United States. Confirm the seller's authorization before you buy.
Is the T2S1-13 worth the price?
At $1,099.99 it is cheaper than the JL 13W7AE at list and more expensive than the Sundown X-15 v.3. Its published excursion and box data are strong, but I found no independent output measurements. It makes sense if you want a single large 1-ohm driver and can buy from an authorized dealer.
Does the T2S1-13 have Bluetooth or other smart features?
No. It is a passive subwoofer driver with push-spring speaker terminals. Some Amazon listing fields mention Bluetooth and voice control, but those are errors for this product.
